I had to write Pricked. Something like Pricked happened to me. I laughed, took a breath and texted my friend. And then, a few days later, I found myself building a script around it.

My own late-night hookup went wrong when I stated a rule that the guy didn't fancy. I just wanted to get that one particular rule out into the open so we could crack on with the evening. But he felt challenged. He wouldn't have it.

Bemused, I explained that if he didn't follow the rule, he'd be breaking the law. That was it. He said I'd spoilt it. He began to pull on his socks and look for the front door (he'd only passed through it 10 minutes earlier).

While he asserted that he was in charge, I tried to explain the details of sexual consent. We weren't destined to be together.

Maybe, instead, we were destined to be turned into Pricked.
